pop3 error message for outlook 2003

i tried to configure outlook to receive email from my netscape email account.
when testing the account settings on outlook it verifies it has established a
network connection, has found the incoming pop3 server and outgoing smtp
server, has successfully sent a test message, but fails to log on to the
incoming pop2 server. the error message states that it cannot log on to the
incoming pop3 server because the server did not accept my user name or
password. however, i did verify that my user name and password were spelled
correctly and in the proper case. i have a cable connection and was given the
server information for both incoming and outgoing mail.
any help would be appreciated.

If you mean that you use an email address in the format "your
name"@netscape.net then you can't AFAIK. Netscape mail is a proprietary
format.

the afaik, but guess what it means is that outlook won't be able to access my
netscape mail?
