Gmail unable to connect with Outlook 2002

When setting up my gmail in Outlook 2002 I enter correct information when
setting up my gmail account in Outlook and when I run the "Test Account
Settings" everything is completed except for the "send test email message". I
double and triple checked my email address for a typo and everything is
correct. Here is the information I used;

Incoming server - pop.gmail.com
Outgoing server - smtp.gmail.com

In "More Settings"

OUTGOING SERVER tab - I ticked the "My outgoing server (SMTP) rewuires
authentication

CONNECTION tab - "Connect using my local area network" is selected

ADVANCED tab - "Incoming server (POP3)=995 Ougoing server (SMTP)=465

Can anyone tell me what I'm not doing?

Thanks!

Did you enable SSL on those connections?

Did you follow Google's instructions on how to enable POP access to
Gmail by configuring the options in your account using their webmail
interface?
