want gmail for primary/default email account

I did as instructed:

On Outlook Express toolbar; click on 'Tools' -> 'Accounts' choose the
'Mail' Tab then click on 'Add',

* enter the requested information about your account in the 'General' Tab,
* in the 'Servers' Tab
* select POP3 for 'My incoming mail server
* enter pop.gmail.com in the Incoming mail (POP3) slot
* enter smtp.gmail.com in the Outgoing mail (SMPT) slot
* enter your gmail account name in the Account mail slot
* enter your gmail account password in the Password slot
* check 'My server requires authentication' and click on 'Settings'
* check Use same settings as my incoming mail server
* the settings in all other Tabs should be the same as for your ISP provided
email accounts.

Said specified server was found but no response from server. Please verify
port and SSL

This is message I get when I try to email

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol:
SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

What do I try next?? Thanks

Post in a newsgroup about Outlook EXPRESS. This one is for Outlook.
They are different products.

Re-read the Help in Gmail. You need to change the ports.
