pop ups during game play

I play online first person shooter games and I get pop ups
in the middle of the game from somebody I don't know
wanting to talk on instant messaging. On the top is says
messenger service or something like that. Someone told me
you can stop these annoying pop ups while your playing the
game but they didn't know how. Can anybody help. Thanks

Go to the Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Scroll down to
Messenger and double click it, and where it says "Startup type: Automatic"
change Automatic to Disabled.
