For whatever reason in your particular case, boot sector damage, a virus, a
bad hard drive device driver, you are not reading the data on your drive
correctly enough to start the system. The 0x7? errors show that. If you can
start the Recovery Console you might be able to run the command CHKDSK to
try to repair the problem. You might be able to repair the registry, if
necessary too. How to edit the registry offline using BartPE boot CD:

What is your computer make and model? What do you have by way of a
Windows XP CD?

The way to recover data is to remove the hard drive from the computer
and to place it in another working computer as a slave or second hard
drive. Alternatively place the drive in an external drive cradle
attached to another computer. Something like in the link attached:
http://www.shopaddonics.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=ae5idecsu2

Either will enable to read and back up data files to CD or other
removable media.

Hope this helps.

It is a laptop inspiron 8600. What originally started all this was, I kept
getting an error msg saying my Windows XP was not genuine, so I figured out
that when my dad took this computer to get fixed when it last had a virus,
the guy put a new hard drive and instead of using the CD's that came with the
computer he ended up putting his own copy of windows. So I wanted to just use
my reinstall windows xp cd that came with this computer from Dell. But then
this error happened.
