Hi i recently got an old pc from work which is running on windows 2000,
i know this is for xp but seeing how i've been on here before for past
issues recarding my own pc, you proved to be great help.
Anyway work couldn't remember the password and i didn't get any boot
disks with it, i tried starting it in safe mode but it still asked for
a password.
Any other ideas.....im not that tech minded.
Thanks.

Buy a legitimate copy of Windows and perform a clean install. You do not
have a legitimate Windows license for this computer.

Try using Administrator for the user name with no password.

To eliminate the administrator password use the Ultimate Boot Cd. Use the
Offline NT Password and Registry Editor.

Be advised if something goes wrong or if there are any encrypted files you
need access to you may loose all the data on the hard drive by editing the
registry outside of Windows.

Can you boot from floppy or CD-Rom? If so then download a software from
here and boot with it:

http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

It works. I have used it many times.

If the bios is locked then you will need to open the case and remove the
battery and reinsert it to reset the bios to factory default. Locked
bios may not allow you to boot from floppy or CD-Rom for security
reasons. Universties do it all the time!

Of course you're not tech minded, or you wouldn't have posted a windows 2000
question in the windows xp newsgroup.... ;-)

You'll need to purchase a "Full Version" of
Windows XP and perform a "clean install".

Clean Install Windows XP
