Please Help with Custom Table & Figure Captions

Fellow Forum Members,
I have an APPENDIX at the end of my manual. I have modified HEADING 6 to
serve as my Chapter Header for Appendix A. How do I get my Figure & Table
captions to display as " Table A-1. Parts List" ? Currently both my Table and
Figure captions don't display the letter "A". Instead it displays as "Table
7-1. Parts List". Any help will be greatly appreciated.
