over the past few days my pc has randomly switched itself off several times
then immediately switched on again. When xp has loaded the message windows
has recovered from a serious error is displayed. Does anyone know what this
problem might be and how I can fix it...i would be grateful for any help and
suggestions.
Open Control Panel - System - Advanced and click on the Settings
button in the Startup and Recovery (bottom) section. In the Startup
and Recovery window click on the checkbox for "Automatically restart"
to clear it then click on Apply and OK as needed to exit.
That should put an end to the spontaneous reboots. However they may
be replaced by Blue Screen Of Death STOP errors and the computer may
lock up at that point. If this does happen then contents of the STOP
message, including the STOP code, all 4 parameters, and any file or
module names mentioned will be a direct clue as to the underlying
cause.
Post the information from the STOP message back here if you need
further assistance with that.
And if this setting change does not resolve the issue then please post
a response back here with that information as well, as there are other
avenues we can explore. But the "automatic restart" setting is the
prime suspect so that should be tried first.
Good luck
