Please help: Getting "NO DISK" message after start-up

K

Katie

I keep getting this message after start up: NO DISK. Exception Processing
Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c. It gives me the
option of cancel, try again or continue. I usually just cancel or continue,
and it doesn't seem to affect the operation of the computer. It began when I
installed Norton AntiVirus 2008. I then: did a system restore (didn't help),
did a disk scan for errors (didn't help), uninstalled Norton (didn't help)
ran a virus scan, deleted all cookies & history - didn't help. What is this?
How can I fix this? Is there a way to troubleshoot it?

Did you use the Norton uninstaller from their site ?

Hi, bojimbo: No, I used the uninstall function of Windows XP, under
add/remove programs. (I installed from a CD, not from the Norton Website.)
Should I do something different?

Norton is known to have the uninstall process "broken." Locate the
uninstal application (Symantec's web site) which will clear out all
Norton/Symantec files/settings completely.

Hi, there, Katie again. Well, I ran the Norton Uninstaller from their
website. It totally took out Norton, but did not solve the problem. (I keep
getting this message after start up: NO DISK. Exception Processing Message
c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c.) So I reinstalled Norton. I
swear, this whole thing started the moment I installed Norton the first time
around. Anyhow, what I wanted to know is: are there programs available, or on
my own computer, that will tell me how to fix this? Or tell me the source of
the problem? I just don't get it. Thank you for all your help, guys.

I get exactly the same error...

I cannot find what causes it neither.... :(

I have had norton installed from way before this startup error appeared....

So, I am lost for ideas....

Thanks, Charles. I went to that link & did try renaming my drives (oooh,
scary) but it didn't help. The other suggestion of uninstalling &
reinstalling the drives seemed kinda extreme to me. Not sure what to try
now......

UPDATE: Problem solved by disabling QuickTime! I went to this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270035/, and downloaded MS Defender. You can
disable startup programs there, and I disabled QuickTime, and darned if it
didn't work perfectly on startup. Thank you for all your help.
