Pioneer DVR-A08xl Problem

I am running Windows XP SP2 and recently bought a Pioneer DVD Writer
(DVR-A08xl). When I installed it Windows recognizes it as a DVR-108. I was
able to use Nero to burn a DVD but when I try and access the DVD writer to
look at the files, it freezes Windows up and I have to do a reset on the
system. I went to Pioneer and upgraded the firmware but could not find a
driver update. Any suggestions?

If you have a Via chipset and are using the
Via IDE Accellerator (Driver Pack)
Go to Device manager and Roll back the driver to the default XP SP2 Driver
version.

Im taking that you have your DVR-108/A08 connected to your Secondary IDE at
UDMA 66

this will solve the problem,
I used to get the same problem with My DVR-108 (also blue screens)
but it is now fixed
