When i put in a blank DVD, it loads for about 10 minutes, and My Computer freezes, then once its done loading, it says there is no DVD in there. I'm using a Pioneer DVR-113NP (thats what it says in device manager), and on the box it says it can write DVD-R discs. The discs im using are DVD-R discs. They dont work. Suggestions?

Sounds like you need to replace the drive.

results.

DVD players are not supposed to write to disks. When it states
"player," it can only read disks.

I would head over to www.rpc1.org. This is a web forum that deals
with DVD / CD drives.

As for your current problem, DVD recordable drive tend to have a
"list" of compatible media stored in its firmware. You can find
utilities that will read the Media Description code off the DVD media
and I did find another tool to read the firmware compatible media
list. (Check the web site above.)

Your drive is actually an Asus DRW-2014x in a Pioneer shell (optical drives are
often given new stickers and sold as different brands).

It should say that there is no disc if you put a blank in, because it’s blank.
What happens when you try to write a DVD-R? Does it give an error?
