Ping problem

Hi all,

was cuaght by a problem today, I couldn't solve and need sme ideas and
support.
Two PC's (both Win2000) are linked via a cross connected cable (no network
equipment). One PC (IP addr. 192.168.0.1) can ping the other, can do
anything you need via the network (file transfer, etc.). The second PC (IP
addr. 192.168.0.2) can't even ping the first PC.

Any ideas?

In some sense this is not possible -- since IP is working
(the ping 1->2) the network is operating and 2 is sending
packets BACK to 1 (the answers.)

Most likely, name resolution or ICMP/ping is firewall/blocked for
answers on #1?

I have already entered both IP's and PC names into LMHOSTS and HOSTS files
to avoid any possible problems on name resolution. Yes, as one PC is
working, I assume, its not the network card on the second PC, thats damaged.
