My girlfriend has a dell computer, P4 running xp, it crashed the other day
and came up with a blue screen that seems to keep coming up saying that it
cannot load a file, it says that it is missing or corrupt or writeable, then
it starts a memory dump. This keeps happening everytime she now starts up
the computer. I was wondering what was causing this, is it a problem with
windows? Can anyone help?

Thanks Paul

Sounds like it could be a hard disk or memory fault to me.
If it's the hard disk have you got a backup or a means of replacing or
restoring ?
If it's memory, are there 2 memory cards in there are so you could try just
one at a time, or try some other ?

Posting the exact error code would help, and which file is it saying it
can't load.? It could just be a corrupt file that is needed for boot, rather
than a hardware fault.

i think it's a registry file, but i have had a look at it and i think it
could just be a problem with windows, because it seems to start loading up ok
but then makes noises like the hard drive is looking for a gfile it can't
find. I think i could try to either repair windows or reinstall it.
