Photo Printer Recommendation

Because of this group, I purchased a Canon i860. It has been a great
printer, but needs a new print head which is half the cost of a new
printer. What would be the recommendation today for a good photo
printer with a decent cost per page? I tend to favor Canon over HP
these days because of the high cost of HP cartridges.

Look at the posting I made yesterday under the thread "Recommendations" for
some info about Canon.

Lexmark must be good or Wal Mart would not sell them.
THAT IS THE MOST ABSURD STATEMENT I HAVE EVER HEARD. WALMART IS A CRAP
STORE AND MISTREATS THEIR EMPLOYEES. JUST READ THE NEWS AND FOLLOW THE
CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AGAINST THEM.

THAT STATEMENT TELLS ME YOU HAVE LITTLE OR NO REASONING ABILITY. yOU

I posted a "user report" on the Canon iP5200 on 28 Dec 05. Take a look at
that for some hands-on info.

Since that time, I have printed two copies of a calendar for gifts. That
consisted of 26 full page-size images on Staples double-sided matte paper,
and 24 pages of "calendar format" pages with a small amount of color. In
addition, there were several pages that I reprinted for various reasons -
call it maybe 8 more full page-size images. In the process, the original
yellow and black pigment cartridges ran out, and the black dye-based
cartridge is down to about 50%. So, overall, I'm satisfied with the ink
usage - must be those 1-2 picoliter droplets. :)

Speed is wonderful, and print quality - even though I did them on the
normal setting - was beyond my expectations. Haven't done any prints on
glossy photo paper yet at best print quality, but when I do, I expect I'll
be super impressed. I'd buy this one again.

The big negative is probably the chipped cartridges if you refill your own.
Cost of OEM cartridges is a definite negative, but I suspect that in time,
3rd party cartridges will be available that are adequate.

NOT A NEGATIVE AT ALL. AND THERE IS NO NEW INK THAT IS REMOTELY COMPATIBLE
Cost of OEM cartridges is a definite negative,
THATS FOR SURE. REALLY OVERPRICED.

THERE WAS NEVER ANY ADEQUATE 3RD PARTY CARTS FOR THE PREVIOUS MODELS.

No, it means I can rattle your cage any time I like. I'm not going to curse
you like so many do here, I'd rather yank your chain and watch you dance.
Nice dance you just did.

Edwin, you'd dance too and type in all caps if you were as clogged as he
is.
