Pesky Sign In Window---help

I have set up a bunch of PCs with XP and the user sign in window has
been eliminated in all but one. I forget how to get rid of it. You
know which one that is, it is the boot window where multiple users can
chose their configurations and possibly passwords to log on to one
computer. I use to know how to get rid of it but don't want to
accidentally wipe out anything. I don't need this security feature at
home.

Hi,

Are you mentioning about the boot menu that appears when
the computer starts so that u can choose a different
operating system.

Well there are options to prevent the choosing of the
screen by setting the welcome screen show time to 0
seconds and specifying the default OS. You can do that by
right clicking My computer and choosing Properties and
then specifying startup settings.

If you are referring to the logon screen:

Start/run "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes).

Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click apply/ok and follow
the prompts to set up a default logon.

I wasn't aware of this administrative process. However, it doesn't
seem to work as you suggested. I have other systems that don't require
selecting a user and the settings are the same computer to computer.
When I went into mine and deselected the use password and logon
option, my system did not change. I have another system that has these
settings and did not need to select user during long on. I changed my
system back to requireing a log on and now it does not need it.

I am of the opinion that there are a sequence of selections that need
to be made and that merely going into the menu of selctions to change
causes some toggling to occur. This is a broken function.
