i just upgraded from win98se to winxp.
with the former i could poweroff the pc via software.

the relevant section in the bios (power management setup) had: power
management : apm/acpi

after upgrading i have to shut down manually, i only get the window
with: now you can shut down, and the pc stops there and i need to push
the power button for more than 4 seconds.

i tried setting the bios to apm only but with no success.
any ideas?
thanks in advance

before answering plese check that your brain is properly inserted in
the slot!

my home gateway has an at m/b, if you can understand what i am saying!
therefore i do not have any problem in shutting down manually, but i
like having things working properly ..... obviously it is not your
case!
