Hi, need a bit of help here.

My pc is a bit old, a 800mhz with win2k. The pc will crash
about 4 times a day, and the screen goes all funny and the
mouse messes up - in that it jumps around the screen.

I have also reformatted the disk, with a clean install!

I thought about memory, it has 128mb, which is the maximum
it can have (ie 2x64mb). I have increses virtual memory
but it doesn't help...

I'm out of options and i can't afford a new pc...

Any one have an idea what it is.

Thanks in advance

most likely a hardware issue, video card perhaps.

When you reinstalled, did you install and update a virus scanner, and
install all windows 2000 security patches?

Yep, update virus scanner (mcafee) and all win updates
done!

Should i try reinstalling the video driver? or the mouse
driver?

You can try, but the fact that you wiped it clean and did a fresh install
and the same problem occurs points to a hardware issue not a software issue.

Go to the manufacturer's website and see if there are later drivers for
the mouse and video, if so, install the updated versions and see what
happens.

how about checking your fan/heatsink. Blow the dust out of it. Perhaps time
to remove it, clean the HS and CPU, reinstall the fan/heatsink with some
good heatsink compound.
