Paste Link Function in PowerPoint

I need to post a link within a slide to a work file. When I went to Paste Special and selected Post Link and then Word File it failed and gave me a error message something about this Power Point Function needing to be repaired. I don't kow how to repair thsi function. Now when I go to Edit; Paste Special, the Paste Link fuction is grayed out and the option for a word link is not there. Can anyone help me restore this function or give me a better way to show a word file with in a presentation.

Thanks

Easiest way to show a Word file during your presentation is:

1. Create some sort of action button on your slide (can be anything).
2. Right-click the button and select "Action Settings"
3. Click the "Hyperlink to" dropdown and select "Other file".
4. Browse to your file and select it.
5. make sure the "Highlight click" check box at the bottom left is checked.
6. Click "OK".
7. Go into Slide Show mode and check it out.

Please make note of the fact that it is always better to put the "linked"
file in the same folder as your PowerPoint file, then link it. This way if
you need to move your file(s) to another folder/computer, the links will
always work.

Glad to help!
