i've forgotten the password to the administrator account
on my laptop. all i can do is turn my laptop on. i cannot
get past the password prompt that comes up when you first
turn your computer on. anyone have any ideas

All you have to do is start the laptop in safe mode and then go to the users icon in the control panel. From there just delete the password, or change it. Whichever you prefer to do. When you get the password prompt in safe mode just click ok or hit the enter key. It will bypass it and still let you in. Window OS's will never be secure.

Well, you may want to look around for a shareware password recovery
software. There is a company that has a very good password recovery
capability but it is pricey -
