How do I get rid of the password screen when I boot up? I do not use a
password and am not on a network. I amusing XP Professional
 
Click Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 Uncheck Users must enter
a username and password.......... Click Apply. Enter the username that you
want logged on automatically, and in this case, leave the password blank.

Obtain and install the Windows XP PowerToys with TweakUI.
Open TweakUI (it's in Start -> Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP).
Expand the Logon branch, and click Autologon.
Turn on the Log on automatically at system startup option, type your
username and password, and click Ok.
