After doing a system restore (the one that says will save all my files
somehow all my old User Acoounts have become inaccessible and I can'
log in as them. The new default user has been changed to a new name
and I can't access any of my old files kept in the old user'
documents.

On a HP, 2 years old. All the files and programs are intact, but
cannot get to them unless I'm under the original user

Meepeth,

I believe you're referring to HP's system restore feature, and not the
Windows XP's System Restore. You need to take ownership of those folders.
