Access Denied

Hi,

I'm running a fresh WinXP installation after my previous one refused to
start in any way (tried safe mode, repair, etc. several times)

Although all the data on the HD is intact (no reformatting involved, just
installed to new partition), the old Documents and Settings folder is
inaccessible. If I click on it I get a popup saying 'Access Denied'. I've
tried getting into it from the command line through both the normal command
prompt and booting onto the Recovery Console but still no luck.

All my old emails, address book and quite a few files are there, how can I
recover them? The HD didn't crash and there's no disk errors, how can I
regain access to those files?

Many thanks

Brilliant, worked like a charm!

I wonder why they don't make it easier to do these things, and to find out
you can do them in the first place

Thanks a million

Adda, it is pretty simple and also pretty easy to find out, actually.
The Microsoft web site is full of such information. Most books on
Windows would mention it. However, I understand that it is often
difficult to find the information *when* you want it.

Cheers,

Cliff
