Outlook xp 2002 and Vista problem

I loaded office xp 2002 on a new Vista computer and Outlook does not work
(all other applications work fine). When I click on Outlook I get a message
saying “Unable to open your default e-mail folders. Could not open the item.
Try again.†When I click OK I get message saying “Would you like to open
your defalt File System folder instead?†If I click "No" the program closes
and when I click “Yes†it tries to reopen outlook and then tells me “Unable
to open your default e-mail folders. Could not open the item. Try again

did you make a new profile? That is the error you typically get when the
profile is messed up. There are problems using Outlook 2000 and 2002 on
Vista though. http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/vista.htm
