Outlook Stops receiving mail

We have Outlook 2003 running on Windows XP Prof. It is using POP3 to retrieve mail from the ISP. It works most of the time but when mail accumulates on the ISP's server, over the weekend for instance, Outlook stops receiving mail. We have to use web access and clear out some of the the mail before it will work again. Any ideas?
 
I am having the same problem. I reboot the system and it seems to work. I
hope someone else has a better idea than re-booting system to get this to
work.
