Outlook is trying to send messages that don't exist

Outlook 2003 says "sending messages 1 of 6" but there is nothing in my
Outbox. I ran "scanpst", which fixed several errors, but did not fix this
problem.

I created a new messge and hit "send". The new message is just sitting in
the Outbox. It looks like Outlook is trying to send the non-existent
messages first, so the new message is stuck waiting.

Related info:

I have three e-mail accounts in Outlook 2003. Two of the accounts
send/receive fine, and the problem account receives fine. I believe the
problem started when one e-mail provider had some server problems. I had
"sent" messages stuck in the Outbox. I deleted them out of the Outbox
before they actually were uploaded to the server. Could that have caused
the problem?

Related question: Is it possible to delete messages after sending them,
but while they are still in the Outbox (for example, if using a dial-up or
on-demand Internet connection, before connecting)?

Thanks,

Andy

There's been some discussion of this... the problem identified and solution
found was that these may be "Read Receipts" that are, for whatever reason,
undeliverable. The solution was to get OutLookSpy
(http://www.dimastr.com/outspy/). Google for:
outlook "read receipts" outlookspy
to read other articles.
