Outlook hangs for a bit - help

Hello there,

I have this issue where when composing an email, if I click on the email
address of a contact that I added, then the window that comes up to edit that
contact hangs for about 30 seconds or more.
Also if trying to open an attachment that is in the email I'm composing then
the window that has the open button hangs for 30 seconds or more before
opening the attachment.

The funny thing is that if I try to open attachments in normal emails (ones
that have been sent to me) it opens up just fine.

The issue just happens when opening an attachment or modifying a contact in
the email I'm composing.

When I un selected Word as my email editor, I don't get the issue. It is
only when Word is the email editor.

Any thoughts? I have to have Word as email editor so keep that in mind.

Several things could be in play here, but one item that might do this is if
Word doesn't detect your default printer immediately. When Word opens, it
makes sure it can communicate with the default printer before it will finish
opening its window. Perhaps this is causing the delay. It might also be
network-served disks. Do you have any mapped network drives?

Yes we do have networked drives.
The funny thing is that I noticed this is happening only on desktops that
are Dell precession 5400
Any other computer that is not a Dell precession 5400 , everything works
fine with it.
