outbox/email problems

I'm using outlook 2003. I currently have a message in my outbox which will
not send. Since composing that message, I have been unable to create new
messages. It hangs or says "starting microsoft word as your email editor."
I'm using my hotmail account. Thanks for your help

Outlook is offline and in safe mode. I still can't delete. Message is it is
already transmitting. I would like to connect to my old PST but I can't
figure out what it is. What's the default? I can't run anything from the
help menu b/c when I first get on it hangs and I can't do anything.

If you're working offline or in safe mode, Outlook shouldn't transmit. Are
you opening Outlook using the /safe switch?
