... no I haven't done, bit nervous of doing as it mentions deleting from the
server?

... i don't know if it is related but 3 or 4 of the users including the one
with the free busy error, on the lan (SBS2003) are having trouble opening
outlook. It just hangs. Will not open in safe mode. If they try to restart
they get an WMS idle still running error. Close that and outlook may run.
Alternatively restarting in safe mode with networking will allow outlook to
run. Then restarting normally will usually result in outlook running again.
These problems seem to have started after the MS patches a few weeks ago.

Have tried re-installing etc but no luck. Any ideas please?

... will do, many thanks.

What makes it difficult is once it has started via safe mode it may not
recur for a few days.

Seems odd that all 4 users started to experience problems within days of MS
patches?

True it's odd, but I've seen some bizarre coincidences that end up being
totally unrelated to what you think should be happening!
It's likely that someone else will know more about what's going on than
myself. There are some excellent Outlook MVP's around here.

Hi

I have tried scanpst on the ost. Scandisk, defrag, cleanup etc. Renamed
outcmd.dat. new profile etc. Unloaded some pluggins. Still seem to get the
problem and in varying degrees on 4 laptops, with repeatable behaviour i.e.
only gets as far as spalsh screen on first attempt. Safe mode does not even
bring up splash screen but shows outlook as a running process. If a restart
is attempted a program running wms idle message appears. If that is closed
outlook starts in safe mode.

Do I need to repost to see if the MVP's might advise?

Daniel.

... tried MS, got advised to re-install. Which I did, still had problem.
Returned the PC to factory state with restore disk, patched up to date, apps
etc. Problem returned after a day or so. MS advised restoring again, which
seems pointless having done it once.

Any ideas from the MVP's please?

I think I have tried most of the suggestions on the links in this thread.

Thanks & Regards,

Daniel.
