Outlook Express - Hotmail Plus Error

X

Xavi

I'm stumped--

I've got the hotmail plus service, and am trying to set-up access with
Outlook Express (v6.0); everything works fine (e-mail comes in and
goes out) but everytime I start OE (after a 15 minute period of
inactivity or so), it gives me an error message claiming that "check
for new messages on 'Hotmail' has failed (eventhough they seem to be
coming-in fine).

The folks at Outlook have been more than quick to say it's on Outlook
problem... and the Outlook folks are more than eager to ask for $60
before they'll even take a look.

I've found a few references in usegroups, web sites, blogs, etc... but
nothing has fixed the problem.

This problem, by the way, manifests on several different computers (so
it's not just one problem child).

Any ideas? Help would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Xavi

Thanks for the quick post, Robert.

Regrettably, all of the suggestions that I came across on the forum
(that I found, anyway), didn't fix it. I'm using it on IE6 and IE7
based systems (so it's not the IE7 bug); I had already disabled the
ZoneAlarm e-mail AV, had added the sites under the IE options, and
allowed cookies. All the threads I came across seem to indicate it's
just something you have to deal with everytime you open OE after a
long (>20 minutes or so) period of inactivity. Pretty frustrating.

Anyway, I appreciate the help.

Regards.
