Outlook Conector vs Hotmail Plus

Hello:

What differences of operation have found between "Outlook Connector" and the
service of payment "Hotmail Plus"?

Testing "Outlook Connector" some times gives a message of error when I Iike
to check the message, then finally, is there not problem with Hotmail Plus
(that I believe that now is called "Windows Live Bonus")?

Do you actually need the IMAP-like access to your Hotmail account? Or
would POP do okay? "Plus" accounts get access to their POP/SMTP mail
hosts (and now freebie accounts do, too, as of Feb 2009). You can use
ANY e-mail client that supports POP/SMTP to access your Hotmail account
(free or paid) and not bother with the still flaky Outlook Connector
add-on.

The add-on is only needed to support Microsoft's Deltasync protocol used
by their mail servers because they dropped the DAV support that Outlook
and Outlook Express support natively. Well, they threatened to drop it
last year (around June) but now they're making noise again to drop it
(http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!50889.entry).

By they time they get Deltasync and the add-on working 100% and then
force their users to it, Microsoft will come up with yet another
proprietary protocol and they'll force you to switch again. Ever since
acquired by Microsoft, there has been, on average, one major change to
their Hotmail service once per year.

Outlook connector is software you use to check Hotmail/MSN/Live accounts;
HotmailPlus is a mail account with extra features.

If you mean "are their differences when using outlook connector with free
and paid accounts" - I believe so, only because the paid accounts have
higher service levels. I have not noticed any significant difference though,
but my free account is used less often.

Diane thanks for your answer, then It seems that I have to get the paid
account to have a good service.

Ok, thank you.

Not necessarily - most users of free accounts will have excellent service...
and some paid accounts have problems (as they move accounts from msn to live
servers). it just depends on your usage.
