OUTLOOK does not open winmail.dat

My Office Xp OUTLOOK does not open winmail.dat.
I get these messages.
"This HTML message contains script which Outlook cannot display."
or in the winmail.dat (read awkwardly with NOTEPAD)
"This attachment is a MAPI 1.0 embedded message and is not supported by this
mail system."
I have run fixmapi.exe.

the winmail.dat may be corrupt. do you know which version sent it? Are you
using exchange and is the sender on your exchange server?
