Outlook Connector - Could not sign in

Guest

Today, I started to get "Error in Mail, Network operation failed" when trying
to access my 10GB Live.com Plus account using Outlook 2007 and latest Outlook
Connector.

How can I resolve this issue? Webmail works, but I urgently need to access
it from Outlook, and also to sync it on my Windows Mobile 6 device.

I'm in the same boat, this morning it made me download the latest version and
since then I've not been able to connect to my office live account. My
hotmail account has continued to work fine.

Well, I have also Windows Mobile 6 device with Windows Live (HTC Kaiser aka
TyTN II), and it does not sync either :(

Update: my Windows Live (Mobile) sync started to work :) So problem remains
only in Connector on PC.

Just to let you know the exact same thing has just happened to me. Do you
have any answers yet? I contacted Microsoft but they wanted to charge me £40
for the priviledge of providing me with the answerrto the problem they
created!

I'm another sufferer. I tried all sorts of fixes such as deleting and
reinstating the email account and even uninstalling Outlook Connector and
downloading and reinstalling. I then emailed the Windows Live support site
and 10 hours later received a reply as follows

"Dear Customer,

Thank you for writing to Windows Live Hotmail Technical Support. This is an
automated response to let you know that the request you submitted could not
be processed or assigned to an agent by our ticketing system.

This is a temporary situation which usually occurs because a Hotmail service
maintenance or unplanned outage is preventing a large number of customers
from signing into their account.

Most maintenance lasts no more than 1 hour, and most unplanned outages do
not last beyond two hours, so please continue to try and sign in.

If you've received this message, but have a problem unrelated to sign-in or
account access, simply reply to this message. Our ticketing system will flag
your reply as a second request and place it in a special queue where an
agent will address it as quickly as possible.

We apologize for this unexpected and temporary delay, and we thank you for
being a Windows Live Hotmail customer.

Sincerely,

Windows Live Hotmail Technical Support"

Not much help! But there is obviously a major issue out there. I suspect
that the person who released the upgrade is not very popular at the moment.
Does anyone know if Microsoft do a bulletin board or similar where they
update the status of issues such as this.

I am starting to loose my faith they will ever fix it... 24+ hours and
counting, Almost every other company could code whole Connector from scratch
within that period...

Many thanks for this John. It saves me oodles more time of trying my own
fixes. Much appreciated. Lets hope its none too long...

It worked once only and synchronised all my hotmail folders but not worked
since. I'll give another chance tomorrow.

I have a similar problem. I work with Outlook 2003 though. Used to have
hotmail configured as a POP3 account, but lately this was giving me some
trouble. Found out about the connector, and in the beginning it looks fine.
However, it seems to connect for a while, after which, without warning, the
connection seems to drop. The only way to reconnect is to restart outlook.
In the error log I discovered the following errors:

Error Synchronizing Message
Error with Send/Receive.

Folder Collection Sync Key: 0{165455FF-9AB7-4FB2-8512-36F362E13AD0}33

Message Collection Sync Key: 0{E400075C-490A-49AD-8620-4AA335EB0864}32

And on another occasion:

There is an error synchronizing your mail account. Please verify your
account has been configured correctly by first accessing your mail on the web.
Error: 4350.

I've googled myself silly, and did come across the 4350 error several times,
but no one seems to have a solution.
Did any of you already get an answer to this problem? Could really use some
help on this.
Thanks!

Hi,

You might want to export your email first (this is to save your email just
in case) and remove the account and then "add back the account"

Regards,
Kueh

Already tried removing the account and adding it again. Uninstalled and
reinstalled the connector, also didn't help. Anyone know what that error 4350
means?
I am working from behind a proxy server though, but all my other
applications that connect to the web, including internet and my exchange
server mail, are working fine. Dont' think it's the problem, but figured I'd
note it anyway.

Hi,

If your proxy require authentication, it will not work. I have tested and
confirmed the problem.

Kueh.

Hi,

So in other words, if you're behind a proxy server that requires
authentication, you are not able to download your hotmail into outlook?
That's pathetic!
I would go back to the standard POP3 configuration, but this is also giving
me headaches.
Maybe it's time that Microsoft actually thinks these things through before
developing a tool...

Nothing helps. I have paid Live Plus account, and trying to install Outlook
2007 and Outlook Connector on my second PC resulted in "Sync is only for
subscribers" error. Primary PC says "Could not sign in".

Strangely enough, Live Mail Beta PC app works fine, same as Windows Mobile
Live client.

Microsoft seems to do nothing with for 3+ days. The service seems to be
extremely unreliable :(

Ok, here is the solution (I think!)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889697/en-us
I remember a few months ago I could not sync my account because
someone had sent me a password protected zip file. I initially thought
it was the virus protection or firewall at work until now.
Anyway, do what it says in the kb article and everything should be
gravy.
Pass the message on!

Was worth a shot, but I'm still getting this error:
Error in Mail

Doesn't look like it helped. Microsoft????
