Outlook connector problem

Z

Zaph

Vista / Outlook 2003 -patched up.

Had connector installed in past but not used. Accessed hotmail account as
normal. recieved MS email telling me to use connector for hotmail access.
Downloaded and installed latest version without any error message. Outlook
starts okay bit no connector option on the menu bar. Have checked no disabled
com addins.
Have uninstalled connector and reinstalled - makes no difference.
Any suggestions of where to look next to resolve?

Thanks
Dave

Diane - Thanks for responding. And in answer....

Only in the way it always was - in that I can add a msn.com email address -
in the same way as I did in the past but there is no hint that this uses
connector (which i thought once installed put an entry on the top menu in
outlook - I'm sure it did in the past).
If I do set up my account using the tools, accounts .... I get the error
that I presume indicates that I need tobe using connector i.e. ...Task 'MSN:
Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error (0x800CCC33) : 'Access to
the account was denied. Verify that your username and password are
correct.The server responded 'Forbidden'. '

Any thoughts?.

Thanks

define "same way i did in the past" - did you go to tools, accounts, add
new... Additional server types and choose the outlook connector?

Diane - yes you are right that was not the clearest of responses.

No - Outlook Connector does not appear as an option in the Additional server
types if I try to add an new email account - and as already mentioned the
Outlook Connector option does not appear on Outlooks File, Edit, View ... etc
.....menu.
As previously reported the install appears to run through and finishe
normally.

"same way as I did in the past" referred to setting up the msn account as
HTTP.

Does connector install generate any logs?

Thanks

Diane,

I don't know how or why but the connector option has just appeared in the
Additional server types - I'm baffled it was not there a reboot ago - guess
I've changed something but I'm danged if I know what. Outlook Connector is
still not showing on the menu bar though.

Thanks for your interest and help but I hope I'm on the road to getting it
fixed now - just wish I knew what had changed.

Zaph

That's good to hear. :) I don't think the toolbar shows until an account is
configured- so try setting yours up by selecting it in Additional server
types.
