Outlook archiving, need to be able to search old emails, best way?

Hi everyone, sorry if this is a silly question but on my office machine
(which running Outlook 2007 setup using an exchange server), I have quite a
few older emails that are slowing down loading of outlook (I think) and
taking up too much space on the server (so I am told). That being said I've
used the archive feature (and autoarchive feature) in the past but have found
it to be a pain when I need to search for an old email, if I can't remember
exactly how old it is I have to search my current emails, then go and search
my archived email (pst file). This turns out to be even more of an issue if
I am logging in remotely from another computer using citrix. Does anyone
have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Matt

I have for many years used Lookout for Outlook, which is an indexed
search within Outlook. It has been incorporated into Windows Desktop
Search, so if you use WDS, you already have it. If you don't, the
original Lookout (v1.3) can still be downloaded from various sites (use
Google).

Lookout has a flexible search engine, and it quickly finds me archived
messages that have accumulated over the last 11 years.
