Outlook 2007 hangs on load, does for all profiles on computer

When trying to open outlook 2007 on vista business it hangs on the splash
screen. I have tried running the diagnostics and repair, deleting and
readding a profile, reinstalling outlook and office all together. Nothing has
worked. I also logged into the computer with a different account (so a
different profile all together) and tried to set up outlook there, and it
hung again. I am leaning to believe that this is an issue with the outlook
and not windows since it occurs on all user profiles. Since reinstalling did
not work, what is suggested to get this to work? The mail accounts do work on
other machines so its not a problem with that.

Have you tried opening Outlook in Safe mode? Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe.
If it opens in Safe mode, then check the Add Ins and COMS to see what is
integrated with Outlook that might be causing a problem. Disable them all,
open Outlook, then add them back one by one to see which one is the culprit.

Also, are there any Office or Outlook related entries in the Application
Event Viewer?

I have tried opening it in safe mode and still hangs on the splash screen.

Is the Windows Search Email Indexer installed? Tools > Trust Centre > Add
Ins.

Wouldn't I need to have outlook open in order to see that? Outlook doesn't
open past the splash screen

Ok I renamed to outcmd.dat.old and restarted outlook and still nothing
happened. I tried in safe mode as well.

The outcmd.dat file controls the toolbars. If it corrupts, often Outlook
won't open or function properly.

Is Windows Desktop Search installed?

I dont believe the desktop search is installed, what would that do other than
search?

It has been known to cause some problems with Outlook because there is
integration.

Ok I will check to see if that is installed. Is there anything else that can
be looked at? Its quite frustrating not being able to use outlook when work
depends on it.

At least you're not dead in the water since it appears to be only one PC.
What did the Application Event Viewer show you?

R

Russ Blumenthal

In the eventviewer it said in one of the logs that Outlook stopped working
with windows, and another that said it rejected safe mode. And I didnt see
the desktop search

I might of fixed it by running some updates, will update in little bit if it
worked

K, did you ever solve this problem. I am having same diffuculty since a user
worked on the laptoip till the battery died. I think the user's computer just
happened to be writing to either the outlook database and/or a windows db,
because i have groups of 2 errors in a rows that all point to mssql$mssmlbiz.
the error codes are 17204, 17207

I also have event 1002 application hang for outlook 2007
