While in Outlook 2003, I would like my auto select use my
contact list as a default address book. My goal is to use
the auto complete (auto suggest) when typing in
address's etc. I have the auto select checked in the
preferences although nothing comes up or auto fills the
name and email etc. Thanks.

The way autosuggest works is that, as you enter addresses and send messages,
Outlook stores those addresses in a cache file (yourprofilename.NK2). The
next time you start typing the characters of an address, Outlook looks up in
the NK2 file what you've typed and displays the addresses in it that begin
with those characters. It is completely separate from the addresses in your
Contacts and does not reference your Contacts at all.

Autoresolve, on the other hand, does. This is where you type the first
characters of an address and either press CTRL-K, the "Check Names" button,
or tab out of the field. Then Outlook opens your Address Book and displays
all the Contacts in it that contain (not just start with) those characters.
If you select one and send the message, that address will, of course, get
stored in the NK2 file as well, so that autosuggest pops it up the next time
you start typing it.
