Outlook 2003 SP3 no longer opens attachments

Since I installed SP3 on Office 2003 in Outlook 2003 none of my attachments
can be opened, even the attachments in older messages which until now opened
fine.
The message I get is (translated to English)

cannot open attachment because the system cannot find the file specified

I tried a repair install, to no avail.
The only way to open an attachment is to save it first, very tedious.
I do not have Google Desktop installed

Your help is most welcome!

Clear the Outlook Secure Temp Folder.

Thanks very much Brian.
Unfortunately, no luck.
The secure temp folder is in the root C:\OLKD and does not contain any files
(0 bytes).
To be sure, I used OutlookTools to clean the folder, but that made no
difference.

Hope you have some more suggestions!

Well, the condition you describe is typical of a full Outlook Secure Temp
Folder, so that's why I suggested what I did.
Hope you have some more suggestions!

Try disabling any mail scanning (AV, for example) and if you have Google
Desktop Search installed, uninstall it. Other than that, I have nothing.

Thanks Brian, I disabled malware/spywasre and virus scanners, made no
difference. I reregistered several dll's, no luck either. Looks like Outlook
lost associations on the installation of SP3. Guess I have to uninstall....
