Outlook 2003 - Sent Items Folder

I am submitting a re-post of an earlier issue I'm experiencing because it
appears I was not making myself plain enough in my explanation. Here's goes
once again.

The basic problem is that my Sent Items folder in Outlook is being emptied -
somehow - every 24 hours. There can be 10 messages in the folder when I
leave the computer for the night, and the next morning all of the messages
will be gone. This behavior started about a month ago but I can't say for
certain exactly when.

Now, as to my setup. I'm running MS Office 2003 including Outlook 2003, SP3
under Windows XP Professional, SP2 on a stand-alone home PC. Very basic
setup; Dell computer with a monitor, wireless keyboard & mouse, and a 3-in-1
printer (HP). I do not shut the computer off, nor do I shut Outlook down at
night. I am connected to a high speed cable modem. My system is set for
automagic updates from Microsoft - both XP and Office. I use McAfee Security
Center for anti-virus protection and firewall. I use Ad-Aware SE, build
1.06r1 for spyware checking, plus WinDefender is running all the time. This
configuration was in place prior to this problem starting up. Outlook was
working just fine, but something has obviously changed without my involvement
- as far as I know.

To my knowledge, I had not changed any settings related to e-mail, views or
archiving when this problem started occurring. The Sent Items folder is
visible and the properties for that folder actually show 'Do Not Archive...'
as being checked. I have reviewed ALL settings in Outlook. Auto archiving
is OFF. Even though archiving is set to OFF, I have searched for a .PST file
on my system but the only one I find is for Calendar and it is over a year
old.

In the E-Mail Options, the "Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder" is
checked ON.

The VIEW I normally use, as shown on the Advanced toolbar, is "Messages" - 3
frames; list of folders on the left, list of items in the selected folder in
the middle frame, and the preview pane on the right. I've tried all of the
'views' but see no change in behavior. The Advanced Toolbar is displayed at
all times.

As I said, every night all messages in the Sent Items folder are somehow
deleted. I have looked through KnowledgeBase - no hits. I have looked
through this message board - no hits. I have done an internet search - no
hits.

I am (obviously) at a loss. Hopefully, some kind soul can help me figure
this out. Thanks.

Recheck your View settings for the Sent Items folder to make sure there are
no filters being applied. Should say Arrange by Sent to. Also check your Auto
Archive settings to see if the folder is being archived every day.

Mary: No filters of any kind defined anywhere in Outlook (that I can find).
The center pane (list of items in the folder) is arranged by: To. Auto
Archive is set to 'Do not archive items in this folder'.
