Sent Items to PST folder?

I am using Outlook 2007 and am trying to find a way to make my Sent Items
automatically go to a PST folder. I was hoping to create a rule that would
just move the Sent Items when I log out the way my Deleted Items are dumped
upon exit. I need to some how archive my sent items so I can avoid the "over
the space limit" messages I am getting regularly. I am open to suggestions if
there is a better way.

Thanks!

So currently you are using an Exchange account?
You can use AutoArchiving to move items older than x days every x days to an
archive file which is a pst-file.
Tools-> Options-> tab Other-> button AutoArchive...
(you administrator might have disabled this option as per corporate policy
though)

You understand that when you move your mail to a PST file, that PST file is
kept locally and not backed up the way your mailbox is backed up on the
server? It's totally dependent upon you to remember to close Outlook and
copy your PST to either a CD or your User directory? And that you cannot use
your PST from a location other than locally?

Yes, however, this is the only alternative that i can think of to avoid the
rather low mailbox size limitations set by our company. I'm open for
alternatives!

Usually it's not the number of email items you have, it's mostly likely
attachments that cause problems in Exchange mailboxes.

Add the email size column to your view of the Inbox and Sent Items, then
arrange by size to see what needs to be dealt with. Also in your folder
view, right click on Outlook Today and click on Folder Size. It will show
you your total mailbox size. Everything from Outlook Today to Tasks counts
against your mailbox size. It will allow you to see which folders are your
worst problems so that you can pare them down by moving those into a PST or
removing the attachments and saving them to your User drive. If you need to
keep the mail intact with the attachment, then use a PST.

The problem is rarely ONLY your Sent Items.

Kathleen,

Thank you for your time in responding. What you describe is what I have been
doing. I am able to file my larger emails in my PST folders. I am able to
delete the emails I do not need. I understand the sent items are not the mail
culprit but I would like to find a way to automatically move my Sent items to
a PST folder. I'd love to create a rule to move them when I close out of
Outlook at night. That's really what I'm looking for is the mechanics to make
that happen. Any further thoughts?

In that case I would suggest the Archive or AutoArchive feature in Outlook.
The first is a manual thing which you'll find under;
File-> Archive...

The second is the automated equivalent of it which you can configure in;
Tools-> Options-> tab other-> button AutoArchive...
