Outlook 2003 Drive access

I have users using Outlook 2003 SP2 who want to be able to access mapped
drives from Outlook. You can do 'File-Open' on any other Office applications
and see your mapped drives but not Outlook.
The help tells you to use the open icon on the standard toolbar but it does
not appear to be on there and you cannot add it via customisation.
If you open an email you can use 'File-Open' but not from the main Outlook
File menu or Standard toolbar.
Any Ideas ?

What is he trying to access from the mapped drive? They will show up just
fine when attaching a file to your email.

They use it to open Word or Excel documents without having to start Word or
Excel separately. Probably not what Outlook is for but you could do it in
2000.

No, that Explorer functionality has indeed been removed from Outlook indeed
for the same reason that you gave; it's not what Outlook is designed for.

They can use the Shortcuts Navigation to create shortcuts to folders,
drives, files or even applications as well.
