PST not valid error

Hello,

I am using Outlook 2007 on an Windows XP client along with an Exchange 2003
server. When I launch Outlook I get the following error:

THE PATH SPECIFIED FOR THE FILE \...\...\...PST IS NOT VALID.

When I click OK a separate CREATE/OPEN PERSONALS FOLDERS FILE popup appears.
When I click OPEN, Outlook finally launches and I am able to access my PST
file.

Why does this happen and how can I resolve?

NOTE: The PST is a 97-2003 version since we upgraded from Office XP and I
mapped the PST from Control Panel - Mail - add 97-2003 version.

Thank you.

Do you think that if I create a new '07 PST & move all the data to it &
disconnect from the old PST it will resolve the issue as well?

Thanks....

If that data file is on the local PC, probably

Yes I am aware but I've got several users who have used PST's mapped from a
share for years and it's been working so I wanted to give it a try.

Thanks....
