PST - File Size display incorrect in windows explorer

Checked folder size of a pst, by going into personal folders properities -
folder size
was 1.89GB
Ran an achive on the PST.
Checked folder size after 700MB
Ran compact
closed/reopened outlook,
also tried restarting computer.

But when check the PST in windows explorer it still shows the file size as
1.89GB.
Same results on both - Outlook 2003 on XP and Outlook 2007 on Vista
Older versions of the pst file types (97-2002), not the new version

How do you get the correct file size to show on the pst file in windows
explorer?

Is the file size limit on the pst going to go by the actual folder sizes or
by the size showing in windows explorer?

Thanks

I am running into the same problem. I have a PST folder size of 1.6 Gb, but file size is over 18 Gb. This is making it impossible for me to backup the file. Any assistance on how to get file size to read correctly.
