Outlook 2003 crashes

S

Steve

Hello Everyone,

I have a user that runs Outlook 2003 and it sporatically
crashes when he tries to send a message. This is the error
signature that is being reported:

AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 11.0.5510.0 AppStamp:3f1380f0
ModName: mso.dll ModVer: 11.0.5703.0 ModStamp:3f5cbb12
fDebug: 0 Offset: 00036c30.

All updates for Office 2003 have been installed and
Windows XP as well. He installed Snag-It software right
around the time this started, but we unistalled that and
it still crashes. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Steve

Rename outcmd.dat to outcmd.old.

If this doesn't work post the error that is logged to the Event Viewer

I am also having the exact same problem. Started last
week, and has progressively gotten worse.

I could not find the file "outcmd.dat" on the system. I
made sure that explorer was showing all files, including
system and hidden. Any Idea?

Here is what is in the Event-Viewer

Hi all,

I found the fix for this problem. It had to do with the
Snag-It add in for Outlook. It has to be disabled for the
problem to go away. I couldn't find any documentation from
Techsmith (Snag-It) or Microsoft regarding this. I will
send it to both of them and hopefully some documentations
will be written.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Keith,

You are not talking about the final version of Outlook 2003 here. Please
upgrade to the final released version.

By default outcmd.dat is located here;
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\APPLICATION DATA\Microsoft\Outlook

Good to find you find the cause. Make sure the add-in is compatible with
Outlook 2003.

Snag-It has a patch for this, but it is not listed on
their site regarding the Outlook issue. Go figure.
