Outlook 2000 Account corruption

I have a system which has worked well for years. I had
to change computers and reinstall Office2000. For some
reason, my accounts within Outlook become corrupt
intermittently (not the same one every time) so that I
have to remove and recreate the account.

There are 3 people in my family using this Outlook. As I
say, we have been doing this for years with no such
problem. I have tried reinstalling many times.

The only change recently has been that my ISP (Bellsouth)
started requiring the checking of the "Requires
Authentication" box under the Servers Tab of each
account.

Can't figure it out.

I'm running WinXP.

Thanks...Ron

I have a similar problem! Outlook 2000 on a WinXP Pro
machine. My ISP recently changed servers and requires
authentication. Mine is a two-user Outlook installation
on a single computer. I changed only one of the user
accounts (to authenticate) for test purposes. That mail
user is now treated to an Outlook crash every time
Outlook goes to fetch the mail. The other user is
unaffected. Unchecking the authentication box does not
fix the problem.

I cetainly hope Microsoft is enjoying the stream of
problem report messages flowing from my computer. But as
this is Office 2000, I suspect little else will happen.
In the meantime, has anyone discovered a fix? Outlook is
essentially worthless to me in this state.
