Outlook 2003 Got Corrupted

I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit and Office 2003 and this has been running fine
for the last 8 months. I do not download any updates to Office 2007 since I
don't want it and have not paid for it. Today I downloaded the latest
updates and after I rebooted Outlook 2007 became my default e-mail program
and wanted me to enter the key. Since I did not want this I exited. I then
clicked Outlook 2003 icon and got message "Cannot start Office Outlook
MAPI32.dll is corrupt Please reinstall Outlook. I tried to reinstall but get
same message again. What can I do? Not very happy!

Ideally you should have uninstalled Office 2007 and then installed Office
2003. About the only thing that goes wrong with this approach is that the
MSMAPI32.DLL file doesn't get replaced during the downgrade. Easily fixable
by renaming the support DLL found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Common
Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 and then doing a repair on your Office/Outlook 2003
install.

Neo,
I had not intended to Install 2007, I don't want it. I have been using
Outlook 2003 and happy with it. And I don't recall that I downloaded any
updates that would effect Outlook 2007. I was trying to uninstall Office
2007 and I don't see way. It doesn't come up in the list. This thing comes
automatically with Vista with hopes I will pay for it. "support DLL" do
you mean "MAPI32.dll"
Thank you

Something is confusing in your post;
Only a single version of Outlook can exist on the PC
There are various reasons as to why MSUpdate may have offered 2007 updates
An MS Update cannot connvert / replace 2003 with 2007
As well as uninstalling Office 2007 you have to uninstall the Activaion
Wizard & reboot prior to installing any other version of Office

Hi DL,
Office 2007 came with the PC but unpaid for, hoping I would want 2007
version. I installed Office 2003 for which I had the license. This has been
fine until yesterday when installed latest updates and I believe I unchecked
any Office 2007 updates. But then I got the surprise that now Vista started
Outlook 2007. Do I need to uninstall Office 2003 and start over again. Can
you tell me more about uninstalling the Activation Manager? What will this
do and do I need install it again.
Thank you

If it came preinstalled on the PC, then it will be in "Uninstall a Program" in
Control Panel.
