Here is a General smtp server name from Sympatico that will work . send.sympatico.ca The others are all divided between provinces(States) and they are different by all provinces and depending on the users location.
The above that I posted is for the whole of Canada. Also SSL has to be enabled across the board.

smtphm.sympatico.ca is the setting for Sympatico's MSN enhanced e-mail
service which is explained here as Gary listed originally
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/sympat/3.1_Email
Unless you can now use it for the Sympatico original mail sevice, which is
what smtp8.Sympatico.ca is for.

It is a defective smtp server address from Sympatico. Sympatico is now
running into this issue with almost everyone that is using that smtp server
ady. I know because I also use Sympatico and my next door neighbor is a
level 2 tech there.

The best that they can do is to call Sympatico and get another smtp server
ady . That will fix their issue until that defective smtp server is fixed.

mine is smtphm.sympatico.ca at present which replaced smtp8

It would be nice if Sympatico documented this information a little better.

To the consumer Yes. For what the consumer does not know is another story.

Do you know Mike that Sympatico has 328 different smtp server addresses spanning 34 different ports in 12 Provinces in Canada
Government and Security services and etc also use Sympatico with smtp and port addresses that would make your hair stand up. Obviously these are not very plain in their documentation that is given out to the public on their URL's
I am using smtphm.sympatico.ca on port 62. Care to guess why and how come.

I do not use the MSN Platform at all. I am using a W2K3 Server with my own pop3 email client built into the server .
Although I retain 3 old legacy pop3 accounts from MS there is nothing that connects me apart from that to MSN.
Incoming pop3 server is my own and my outgoing is smtphm sympatico.ca and also I have another one for security which I do not use often which is smtphwi***.sympatico.ca. I have different ports then others. My outgoing is port 62 and incoming is confidential.

Because you can? it's an exclusive Sympatico service port that your neighbor
gave you?
I didn't know they had that many server addresses other than the 3 they list
for Ontario and Quebec.
They don't show any for the other 8 provinces or 3 territories - if the
service is even available everywhere.
Do you use the enhanced service? Is it worth upgrading 2? Can it be used
with WM or WLM?
Thanks for the info Peter.
