out of resources/spooler error

I've red many threads about the spooler error an the can
not install printer error (print subsytem unavailable).
All solutions (deleting ALL possible printer drivers,
stopping and starting spooler) have failed, so far. I'm
about to reinstall everything (i hate it) but I will give
it one more shot.

One bad day my printer was gone, after some microsoft
update. Also the sound card stopped working. I am not
allowed to add a printer (printer subsytem unavailable)
and every now and then the spooler pops up with an error.
Anyone knows what is going on? I am desparate, after going
through the first 50 pages of this newsgroup. All tips on
solving did not help.

Well, I'd point the finger of blame at that "update." MS is notorious for
making things worse - especially with obsolescent products, which has led
some people with a well-developed paranoid nerve to speculations that are
probably libellous if I repeated them here.

If you can, back out to an earlier system state in which the printer, etc,
worked. If you specify the exact update, it's possible someone may have a fix
for your problems.

HTH.

PS: as soon as you get your system working as it should, make a backup. First
create a partition just for this purpose (use Disk Management). Or buy a
cheap HDD and install it. Then use the built-in backup utility to make a
"system state" backup - it's not complete, but it can be used to return to an
earlier state if necessary. Better yet, get one of the utilities made
specifically to backup and restore the system.

Good luck.
