I nned to access an MS backup set made in 1997 - trouble is I don't
even know which version of MSbackup it was. Does anyone have any ideas
on how to get at the archive?

On tape? Disk?

BackupMyPC from StompInc can probably read it, since it derives from
Veritas' backup software, which is the basis for MS' backup software
since about Win95. If it's an old format tape you might have more
trouble finding a device that can read it though.

Sadly no joy with this software.

Are you sure it was produced with MSBackup? (and that you have the whole
of the backup file, rather than just a piece of it?).

Well good points, it would not have been produced by a 3rd party
backup, so either it was using windows 95 backup utility or in ths dos
version. Also yes it is a full backup, not an incremental one done on
a 100Mb Zipdisk
