Order of Windows 2000 printers?

Is there a way to know or change the order of the printers installed on a system (Windows 2000). The reason is because we have a porgram that needs to print on the first printer installed but we can't seem to get it to be the first, even when we install it first. How is the order decided? Thanks.
 
Sry to ask but: isn't it good enough to have it as the
default printer?

We've tried that bu it doesn't work. Is there something in the registry?
