Strange! I've a new 2U rackmount, AMD 2400+, 512 G, 120HD, Waveterminal sound card and Diamond Stealth S80 Video card
Work fine at the start, I Think. Started it up, activated Windows XP Pro.w/SP1. During windows update, machine shut down and restarted, but this time not all the way, got the window that gives me the choices of safe, last know config and normal etc. Then "looped again" to same window, and eventually to the blue screen of death. To make a long story short, after days of adding, removing, checking hardware etc. It looks as if it only does this when the case cover is on, remove it and everything is fine. Everything is snug, fans are running, I can run applications, shutdown, restart and so on. But the cover back on and again I have the restart problems. In fact, after a few tries, it won't let me start in any mode , safe, last know or normally, then eventually the blue screen
The latest blue screen message went something like this

STOP: 0x0000008E (oxC0000005,0xBF875CED,0xF705EA40,0x00000000

***Win32k.sys - Address BF875CE0 base at BF800000 DateStamp 3f73195

Any one (Btw...I know very little about this stuff, I just want to get some work done)?

Could be heat related. There's not a lot of ventilation space in those
rackmount cases, and you have to be very careful to make sure airflow isn't
blocked anywhere. Are you using a server board, or have you put a desktop
board into a server case? If it's a desktop board in a rackmount case, you
probably don't have enough airflow and especially not enough above the CPU
to dissipate that heat. Also, make sure that cables aren't getting in the
way of fans when the case is on.

Could be that when the case is on, something is getting snagged or crimped
or shorted. Make sure none of the cables are getting pulled, pushed, or
folded. Make sure none of the cables have bare spots that might be
contacting the case when it's on. If the case screws together, make sure the
screws aren't touching/pinching anything.

Could be that the case is a bit out of square, so that when it's assembled,
it's skewed just enough so something nudges out of a slot. Or that something
is getting pushed to cause a short.

I'm betting it's heat.
